Here in this post, we will discuss strategies to achieve any realistic goals.
How to define a goal?
The goal should be defined based on career objectives. Your career objective should be defined based on your vision.
Ask yourself these following questions (to know your vision) and note your answers:
- What do you want to do in this life?
- What will make you happy?
For example, X wants to pursue engineering as a career, X’s vision is to teach underprivileged students. Helping others makes X happy.
X will define goals to be an engineer and make time to help students.
Goals type
Goals can be short-term, medium-term, and long-term. Short-term goals are set towards long-term goals.
For example: Suppose a student wants to be a successful Lawyer, that is the student’s long-term goal. To be a successful lawyer, the student first has to get admitted to a good law school, then earn a law degree and practicing license.
The student Goals will be as follows:
- Long-term goal: Successful Lawyer
- Medium-term goal: Get a law degree and practicing license.
- Short-term goal: Crack law university entrance exam and get admitted to a good law school.
Importance of short-term goal
Splitting a long-term goal into many short-term goals help keep track of progress, it will help you not to deviate from your goal. Short-term goals should be very clear and achievable within a few months or a year and middle-term goals should be achievable within a few years.
Short-term goals will help you focus on important things and not sway away from distractions.
Achieving Goals
Life is full of ups and downs. Don’t expect things to be easy. There will be a time when you will feel like giving up on your goals and find backups.

Nothing happens without a reason, trusting the time and keeping your focus on goals is the right way to achieve goals.
Embrace failure as a learning lesson and celebrate success with humility.
